Find the Correct Records Office

For a Sheriff-created booking record, contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Records Division. Its public counter is at 655 E. Third Street, San Bernardino, CA 92415. Call (909) 888-5916 and select option 7. Published counter hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Written requests may be mailed to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Records Division, P.O. Box 569, San Bernardino, CA 92402. Online requests use the County NextRequest portal.

The right destination depends on which agency created the record and where the person is held. Use these routes to avoid asking the Sheriff for a city, court, state, federal, or immigration record it does not control.

  • For a county booking record, roster result, or booking-photo request, start with the San Bernardino County recent-arrests hub, then use the Sheriff Inmate Locator or Sheriff Records Division. A photo may be requested, but the Sheriff says booking photos are generally not released.
  • For a fresh county custody question, check the official Sheriff locator and the Arrests Last 24 Hours fallback path. West Valley Detention Center’s public information and bail line is (909) 350-2476 when the locator directs callers there about a missing name.
  • For a city police arrest report, contact the agency that made the arrest. San Bernardino Police Records is at 710 North D Street, (909) 384-5742. Fontana Police Records is at 17005 Upland Avenue, (909) 356-7103. Ontario Police Records is at 2500 South Archibald Avenue, (909) 395-2001.
  • For an older city arrest summary, use the Police Blotter routes. San Bernardino has a dated document archive, Fontana posts a weekday Arrest Media Log, and Ontario directs requests through its Records Bureau and public-records portal.
  • For release or transfer notices concerning one person in participating county custody, use the VINELink Custody Check. Verify any alert with the current holding agency.
  • For court filings, hearing information, bail decisions, or the final disposition, use the San Bernardino Superior Court Public Portal or contact the district where the case was filed. A booking allegation is not the court outcome.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, use California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation CIRIS. For state identification-photo or commitment-information questions, CDCR lists OPEC@cdcr.ca.gov and (916) 445-4950 and asks for a full name plus date of birth or CDCR number.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or the U.S. Marshals route identified by the Sheriff. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator or call its Detention Reporting and Information Line at 1-888-351-4024, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
